Women Holding Hands

We at Riverbend (RITT and RCG) are heartbroken and angered over recent events that have resulted in the murder of black lives. As stated in our mission statement, “Riverbend Integrative Trauma Treatment (RITT) addresses the full scope impact of trauma.” This includes racial trauma that has impacted the lives of black individuals from a systemic and historical level. While these events are not new, the conversation and action are growing.

Riverbend affirms its commitment to recognizing, addressing, and eradicating all forms of racism and ethnic oppression. We focus on engaging and collaborating in providing services, including counseling and supervision, that challenge oppressive and unjust forces.  We work to reduce racial injustices both within the counseling/social work community and our larger community. As a collective consisting of mostly white women, we are committing to educating ourselves further and continuing the conversation of racial injustice. RITT Fellows, staff, and supervisors are united in the pursuit to end racial and ethnic bias and to empower our students toward this collective goal.  Black Lives Matter.

Riverbend is now open and working as usual with in-person sessions.  Please talk with your therapist and decide what is right for your session.  We still have our HIPPA compliant online therapy available.  In the office, we are doing extra cleaning of door handles and bathrooms and if you do not want to use the waiting room, you may wait in your car and coordinate with your therapist for a text when the session room is available.  Let us know what you need and we will do our best to assist.  We look forward to seeing you in person when you are comfortable with the environment.
