Welcome! We're so glad you're here!

We are an outpatient psychotherapy program that offers a wide range of current and creative therapeutic interventions in Charlottesville, Culpeper and Richmond.   Treatment is tailored to address a wide range of issues and help each person access their own unique and ever-present resources for healing. Our staff includes highly skilled supervisors, licensed staff therapists and license-eligible therapists. Each license-eligible clinician is receiving supervision toward their clinical license and intensive training in therapeutic techniques.

Our History:

Riverbend Counseling Group, or RCG, started in 2011 as an association of outpatient psychotherapists who chose to work our private practices in a collaborative and supportive setting.  While sharing resources, each therapist has their own business entities and client management systems.  We are a highly experienced, skilled, and caring group of individuals.

Riverbend Integrative Trauma Treatment, or RITT, was developed in 2019 as a separate but connected company to increase the capacity for offering therapeutic services to the community and to train new trauma therapists.

As of 2026, we simplified our name to Riverbend Counseling. Riverbend Counseling represents both our history and our future: the same trusted clinicians, the same commitment to clinical integrity, and an even broader vision for healing.

Riverbend Counseling and RITT affirm our commitment to recognizing, addressing, and eradicating all forms of oppression. We recognize that racism, bigotry, and oppression affect the lives of many.  Our therapists provide a safe space to explore personal experiences with injustices.  We welcome all people and commit to advocacy that challenges oppressive and unjust forces. We are united in the pursuit to end racial and ethnic bias and discrimination due to gender and bigotry against the LGBTQIA+ community.

We believe diversity strengthens us all and we stand with you.

Riverbend Counseling and RITT do not discriminate in their programs, services, or member selection on the basis of race, color, national or ethnic origin, ancestry, age, religion or religious creed, disability or handicap, sex or gender, gender identity and/or expression, sexual orientation, military or veteran status, genetic information, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state or local law
