Diagnosing and Treatment Planning with Traumatized Children
Children affected by trauma often present with behaviors that are easily misunderstood or misdiagnosed. In this practical training, Lindy Swimm, LCSW-S, and Thistle Newcomb, LPC, will help clinicians move beyond symptom labels and develop treatment plans grounded in attachment, nervous system regulation, and developmental understanding. Participants will learn to avoid common diagnostic missteps, conceptualize child behaviors through a trauma lens, and implement play-based interventions that support safety, regulation, and secure attachment. Clinicians will leave with clear frameworks and practical strategies they can immediately apply in their work with children and families.
