Joe graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University with his MSW in clinical social work and a graduate certificate in disability leadership. He has provided counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and seniors in residential, outpatient, and community-based settings. Joe enjoys working with individuals of all ages and backgrounds as they encounter the challenges, triumphs, and big questions of their lives. Examples include recovering from trauma, navigating transitions, exploring identities, and seeking life’s meaning or purpose. He has extensive personal and professional familiarity with LGBTQ+ and neurodiverse identities and experiences.
Joe’s approach is person-centered, rooted in mindfulness, and inspired by his ongoing exploration of psychology, creative arts, and various spiritual and contemplative traditions. He draws therapeutic techniques from Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Narrative Therapy. Joe believes that the strength of the client-therapist relationship is critical to the success of therapy and seeks to form a unique connection with each client based on their individual personality, interests, and reasons for seeking therapy.
