Yoga Therapy for Trauma Recovery
 

Tuesdays: Apr 11,18,25 & May 2,16, 23

Time: 5:15 p.m-6:30 p.m.

Location: 172 S. Pantops Drive, Suite A

RITT Training Room

This 6-Week yoga therapy group meets weekly to practice breath, movement, and stillness that connects the participant more fully to their body. Movements used in this group are gentle and adaptable. We will get down on the floor – however, we will not be moving rapidly between exercises. No experience is required. Crystal Oliver, MSW, and Yoga Therapist leads this group.

 

Yoga Therapy improves the following skills that assist trauma recovery:

•Getting comfortable being uncomfortable

•Sense of awareness of their body

•Sense and feel in the body

•Focus the mind

•Control the Breath to regulate the nervous system

•Relax tension and distress the body

•Improve the body’s ability to switch from the sympathetic to the

parasympathetic nervous system

•Improved well-being and confidence

This group is covered by insurance Anthem and Aetna commercial insurances, Anthem Healthkeepers Plus, Aetna Better Health of Virginia, Molina/ Magellan, and Optima Medicaid MCOs.  Private Pay $150.00.
